Sichuan pepper (Zanthoxylum piperitum) is a false pepper originating from the Szechuan province in south / western China. The aroma of Sichuan pepper is pungent and refreshing, with citrus notes. The flavor is strong, with an aftertaste that leaves the tongue slightly anesthetized. Excellent with poultry meat, sweet and sour dishes, but also with fruit and chocolate.
