Le Botaniche - Blackthorn Berries - Sloe Berry

The wild blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) is an ancient shrubby plant widespread throughout Europe. The fruit is a spherical drupe, blackish with a blue bloom, with a sour and lapping flavor from unripe, sour-sweetish when ripe; used to make liqueurs and brandies. In the UK it is traditional to infuse it into gin to create the liqueur called Sloe Gin.
