Gil Authentic Rural Gin takes inspiration from Doctor Gil, Captain Jefferson's ship's physician, who landed on the Calabrian coast in the late 1800s and used local botanicals to create a gin here. Gil's creators then took this story to reproduce a rural gin like what Dr. Gil would have made and then launched this peaty version that even more enhances their rurality. They say that it too was developed by Gil, who used Sila mud heated over hot coals to treat back pain and then thought of reproducing the technique to give life to a peated gin, that is "peated", with this completely unusual method.
The production of Gil Authentic Rural Gin Italian Peated is completely artisanal and is a turbid-colored gin, with delicate smoky hints given by the peat, which accompany those of juniper and absinthe, with a very enveloping and pleasant final result.
