Gil - The authentic rural gin

Gil was the doctor on board the ship of Captain Jefferson, who landed on the Calabrian coast at the end of the 1800s. He was responsible for the antidote against the poison of the viper of Rocca Imperiale and the recipe for gin (1871). He described the juniper berries of the area as "raw and low-altitude", but he was pleasantly impressed and, as a gin enthusiast, he began to experiment with a rural product made only with botanicals from Calabria. Today that gin has been unearthed and recreated in the same way as then, filtering it with a simple linen cloth. The result is a yellowish distillate with a complex citrus aroma with floral and herbaceous notes. On the palate it is powerful, savory and fresh, with notes of mint and aromatic herbs that persist for a long time in the mouth, also perfect to be drunk neat at the end of a meal as well as in mixing.
