With this gin Zuidam wants to reproduce i original flavors of the 1700s, when gins were often stored in barrels and took the flavors. For this reason the Dutch Courage Old Tom is done briefly aged in American oak barrels thus obtaining a slightly sweet gin, with a strong hint of juniper combined with notes of vanilla and woody spices. Among the botanicals we find Angelica, Spanish oranges and lemons, Moroccan Coriander, Juniper, Italian Iris Root, Indian Licorice Root, Madagascar Vanilla, Elderflower.
The Zuidam distillery was founded in 1975 and produces gin, genever and other very popular liqueurs in the Netherlands. The name Dutch Courage is that of the shot of genever that was given to Dutch soldiers to be brave before battles.
