Sling Shot Irish Gin is produced by combining four different spirits, created with a small copper alembic: the first is produced with the classic botanicals of gin; the second with citrus fruits (fresh and organic oranges, pink grapefruit, lemon and lime); the third with fresh mint; the fourth with peat, collected locally.
It is the first gin in the world with peat used as a botanical, a very different procedure from that used for scotch whiskey: the peat in distillation does not give hints of whiskey, but gives a unique softness, which goes perfectly with the fresh notes citrus and mint, the herbaceous ones of juniper and the slightly spicy ones of cardamom.
Lough Ree Distillery was born in Lanesborough, Ireland, in the summer of 2018 from the project of the Clancy family to connect the tradition of Whiskey to modern technologies; to connect the quiet pace of rural Ireland with the surefootedness of a new generation.
The name Slingshot means "slingshot": it evokes the legend of David and Goliath, but also that of Queen Maeve who while bathing in Inchcleraun was killed by a slingshot shot from the coast of Longford: these stories tell of actions that required zeal, skill and a lot of self-confidence, characteristics that we find in the production of this unique gin in the world.
Sling Shot is the first gin selected by ilGin.it for the Adopt A Gin project, aimed at bringing particularly excellent foreign gins to Italy, not yet distributed in our country and looking for an importer.
