Tonka beans (Dipteryx odorata) are the seeds of the fruit of a tree native to Central America normally called cumaru. Shaped like a flattened almond, they have wrinkled skin and dark brown to black in color.
The aroma of the tonka beans is particular with a strong component reminiscent of almond with notes of vanilla and cinnamon. Just grate a little on the drinks to release a pleasant and sweet vanilla aroma.
