Eugin Distilleria Indipendente is the first distillery exclusively dedicated to gin in Northern Italy - the third in Italy. Here they use an alembic - called Robert - custom designed for the needs of the producers, Eugenio and Niccolò Belli, which works both as a traditional pot still and as a carter head.
Eugin N ° 9's “9” has nothing to do with the number of botanicals, but indicates that they started from the ninth attempt to develop the recipe currently in production. In designing this recipe they wanted to create a gin that was the maximum expression of juniper, the botanical par excellence of gin. The difficulty of a recipe with few botanicals (juniper, angelica, coriander, white fir sprouts) lies above all in finding the highest quality raw materials, starting clearly from alcohol, from Italian and organic soft wheat. The other difficulty lies in finding the right balance in cutting heads and tails, in order to still give character to the gin, without making it heavy or depriving it of finesse. The hints of juniper are in fact softened by a soft finish and a beautiful balance of botanicals.
