Antwerp's premium butcher De Laet & Van Haver has become famous and acclaimed by some Michelin chefs for its marinated beef called Secret 07. Given the similarity between the maceration process of gin botanicals and that of marinating beef, Luc De Laet had the idea of creating a gin in which the recipe contained the same herbs and spices used for Secreto 07 and, to make the gin flavor even more similar to his famous meat, he decided to infuse it too in the distillate.
Thus was born Butcher's Gin, a dry, spicy and herbaceous gin, with a unique aftertaste due to raw beef. It is well suited to mixing in spicy or herbaceous gin and tonics, perhaps as an accompaniment to meat dishes. It is also perfect for tasty cocktails like the Red Snapper. The very intense aroma and taste of this gin, in fact, pleasantly emerge in the blending.
