The idea of creating a gin that was inspired by Africa, that is Elephant Gin, was born thinking of the drinks that are traditionally drunk at sunset after a day in the South African forest, which are often Gin Tonic. In the London Dry the blackthorn berries are macerated to create this Sloe Gin version, decidedly drier than the classic sloe and which combines the notes of London Dry (especially spicy notes) with the slightly sweet notes of blackthorn berries.
All the bottles are personalized, the label is handwritten and the logo refers to the characters used in the letters that the explorers of the nineteenth century sent home telling their adventures. The natural corks of the Sloe version are wrapped in a row of beads handmade by the Maasai people in Kenya that can be used as a bracelet or as a necklace.
elephant gin donates 15% of revenues to two foundations dedicated to the preservation of African flora and fauna: Big Life Foundation's Ranger Club, very active in Kenya and Tanzania, and Space For Elephants Foundation, which engages South African communities in the enhancement of local wildlife by creating employment opportunities through the creation of tourist attractions and saving elephants from poachers who they trade ivory illegally.
