The idea of creating a gin that was inspired by Africa, that is Elephant Gin, was born thinking of drinks, especially Gin Tonic, which is traditional to drink at sunset after a day in the South African forest. All the bottles are personalized, the label is handwritten and the logo refers to the characters used in the letters that the explorers of the nineteenth century sent home telling their adventures. The caps are made of natural cork from Spain and in the Navy Strength version they are wrapped in one cord with a golden anchor-shaped pendant. Each bottle is named after one of Kruger National Park's legendary Magnificent Seven Elephants: Kambaku, Joȃo, Dzombo, Mafunyane, Ndulamithi, Shawu and Shingwedzi.
elephant gin donates 15% of revenues to two foundations dedicated to the preservation of African flora and fauna: Big Life Foundation's Ranger Club, very active in Kenya and Tanzania, and Space For Elephants Foundation, which involves communities in South Africa in enhancing local wildlife by creating employment opportunities and protecting elephants at the same time.
On the nose and on the palate Elephant Strength Gin is more intense than London Dry, with strong spicy notes on the nose combined with more complex aromas and notes of juniper, pepper and cumin on the palate combined with persistent floral notes in the finish. When blended in the Gin Tonic, the herbaceous notes emerge more clearly.
